9 Knights sign National Letters of Intent
For some, playing sports has always been just a fun activity or an extracurricular. For nine Knights, they turned that fun into a passion and have taken it all the way to signing their National Letter of Intent to play Divison I and II sports.
On Tuesday, November 15th, nine North Penn student-athletes gathered in the auditorium to sign their National Letter of Intent to play Divison I and II sports at the collegiate level. Many sports were represented, including Baseball, Men’s Swimming, Women’s Lacrosse, Women’s Soccer, and Softball.
The event started with Athletic Director, Don Walsh, giving an opening speech congratulating the athletes and thanking their parents and coaches for their support.
“We thank you, families, for being a supportive rock for these student-athletes”, Walsh exclaimed.
Each student-athlete was introduced by their high school coach, who summarized their career as North Penn athletes and discussed their accomplishments and, more importantly, what kind of people they are and their leadership skills.
“Jamie has all of the technical abilities you want in a soccer player, but it’s really about the intangibles that set her apart. Her leadership, effort level, and ability to motivate her teammates is special”, head Girls Soccer coach Mike Rio explained about Jefferson Soccer commit Jamie Webb.
After being introduced by their coaches, the student-athletes were asked why they chose the school they did, their plans at their respective schools, and their recruiting process.
“I chose Maryland because I just loved the atmosphere on campus, and they have super competitive academics and athletics. I started the recruiting process around freshman year. I love Softball, obviously, so I want to play as long as possible”, University of Maryland Softball commit Julia Shearer said.
The passion these student-athletes have for their sports, combined with their hard work and dedication, made this day possible. Congratulations to all nine Knights who signed Tuesday, and best of luck for their futures.
