Windy Wednesday for Cross Country victory
“We hope to bounce back today if we can. We only have two more meets,” head Coach Jim Crawford remarked prior to the North Penn girl’s cross country meet on Wednesday.
Indeed, the North Penn Girls Cross Country Team did catch a much needed and well deserved win tat home against Central Bucks East, during a season that seems to be racing right by.
Senior Jaime Diedel and Junior Rachel Storm led the race with a great and powerful start. They continued their lead and even held a gap sparing them some extra time between the rest of the group. They continued on to finish first and second.
The rest of the team put in the work as well, and showed good energy and improvement.
“We have a young team, but honestly our freshmen and sophomores have just been amazing. I think this is the best underclassmen we’ve ever had,” Diedel said.
The team has had to deal with a change in their practices. With a daily delay in starting each practice due to necessary screenings to ensure the safety of North Penn’s athletes. They have had to adapt their practices, using the fields full time rather than the track or gyms, and adding more core work to their training. Despite all that, the team has been able to overcome these challenges and focus on the improvement of their race times.
“I think after a really good meet today the future looks good for us,” Diedel said.
A meet with Central Bucks South awaits, as the team travels to opposing turf next Wednesday.
