Calling all writers and artists to The Troubadour!
TOWAMENCIN- Creative minds, now is the time to get your work published, and North Penn has the perfect outlet for all your innovative ideas. NPHS’s literary magazine The Troubadour is looking for you to join in on all the fun!
The Troubadour is a literary publication that accepts poems, prose, personal essays, artwork, photography… you name it! Any student can submit one of their pieces if they desire, leaving it up to the editors to decide whether or not it fits into the image they wish to portray based on their theme.
The magazine always has a theme that comes out with each issue in which every piece is centered around. The winter issue, which is currently available to the public, was focused on shadows and light. The upcoming spring issue will focus on the ideas of fate, free will, and destiny.
Getting involved is pretty easy, since The Troubadour is both a club and a publication. This means that even if you are not directly a part of the club, you are still able to submit work that can be considered for the next issue.
“For people who are interested in the club, we meet on Wednesdays in my classroom A107, and these are for people who are interested in reading submissions, editing, putting together the website,” explained The Troubadour advisor, Mr. Gillespie. “So if you are just a writer who likes to write poems in your free time or you’re an artist and you’d like an audience, this becomes a venue to do that.”
Anyone who simply wants to try and get their work published, there are no mandatory meetings they must attend; they just have to either email a submission to [email protected] or go to their website, sites.google.com/npenn.org/troubadour. On the website, simply click on the submissions tab to read over the guidelines and send in your work! The deadline for the spring edition is April 6, and the window for submissions has already opened.
Even if you don’t want to submit anything, I still strongly suggest you give their website a look and read some of the truly amazing work that has been created by students who may be in your classes! The hard work and dedication the staff, writers, and artists put into this publication should not go unnoticed, and the whole of NPHS should be aware that this literary magazine does more than just exist; it exists to be extraordinary.
Now go read, write, and enjoy!
