LANSDALE – As Thanksgiving approaches, the North Penn School District (NPSD) prepares for two events fitting for the holiday season that give thanks and build community, camaraderie and tradition.

Family, friends, alumni, community members and NPSD staff will join together on Thanksgiving Eve in recognition of the 2017 class of North Penn Knights of Honor. These distinguished individuals include the late Dr. Barry Chasen, the late Carolyn Murphy, Bonnie Rosen and Benjamin Weber.

INDUCTION TIME: Dr. Barry Chasen, displayed here in the NPHS concourse is one of four 2017 Knights of Honor inductees.

During the 2015-2016 school year as part of the NPSD’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, the district introduced the Knights of Honor Program. The purpose of this newly formed “Hall of Fame” is to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the school district, community and/or their chosen career, and therefore bring great honor to the NPSD. The program is designed to recognize notable North Penn community members, former staff members and alumni who have brought honor and outstanding service to the district. The goal is to pay tribute to these important people and their contributions, but to also inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

HONORING OUR KNIGHTS: Benjamin Weber, shown here in his NPHS concourse display, will be inducted into the Knights of Honor on Wednesday 11/22.

The evening will be conducted in the form of an induction ceremony beginning at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22 at North Penn High School (NPHS) in the Auditorium. All are welcome to attend. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required. If interested in attending, please RSVP to Kaity Andrey at [email protected].

The following morning at 10:00 am, more than 130 North Penn (NP) and Lansdale Catholic (LC) alumni football players will storm the field at NPHS Crawford Stadium in pursuit of the famed turkey trophy and a year’s worth of bragging rights at the 2017 Thanksgiving Day Alumni Flag Football Game. Rallying in the stands will be nearly 50 North Penn Marching Knights (NPMK) alumni band members joining forces with today’s NPMK. The sidelines will be full of spirit from NP and LC alumni cheerleaders who will also be joined by current students from both teams.

The LC Crusaders pose for a photo after they accepted the trophy from their 51-68 defeat over the NP Knights from the second annual Thanksgiving Day Alumni Game on Thanksgiving Day 2016.

To prepare for the year three of this famed community event, LC will be holding a practice for football players on Wednesday, November 22 at 11:00 am on the football field at Lansdale Catholic High School (located at 700 Lansdale Ave. in Lansdale). Later that night, NP alumni will huddle up at the NPHS turf field (located at 1340 Valley Forge Road in Lansdale) at 6:00 pm to plan their revenge on two-time winner, LC.

The NPHS Cheerleading Squad will welcome alumni cheerleaders to polish their moves at practices on Monday, November 20 and Wednesday, November 22 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Auxiliary Gym at NPHS.

Whether your legacy reigned on the field with the players, on the sidelines with the cheerleaders, in the stands with the NPMK or in the crowd as a die-hard fan, there’s no place like home and there’s nothing like a little hometown rivalry. Join North Penn and Lansdale Catholic alumni and community members on Thursday, November 23 at 10:00 am at NPHS Crawford Stadium for the 2017 Thanksgiving Day Alumni Game. Tickets are $5.00 and children under five enter free.
