TOWAMENCIN- Due to the recent controversy over loss of trays in the NPHS cafeteria, North Penn High School will no longer be supplying lunch trays. Students will be required to bring their own trays if they want lunch. No plastic bags, or paper bags will suffice.
Students have been abusing their lunch tray privileges, leaving their trays behind for cafeteria employees to pick up, and putting them in odd places.
“A lunch tray has no business being in a backpack, trash can, or bathroom.” stated North Penn Principal Todd Bauer.
“This will not only cut down on cost, but allow us to spend money on real necessities, like more TVs in K pod.”
During a recent study done by LIRPA Inc., they found that cutting out tray usage in high schools will cut down on 64% of spending costs related to cafeteria usage. This not only reduces the cost of buying trays, but also washing them. On top of that, LIRPA Inc. also found that students bringing their own trays will encourage uniqueness. Removing trays will also cut back on the amount of wasted water. In all, this plan will save money and the environment.
“Students can get as creative as they want. They can get any color, shape, or size. Whats even better is that they will be able to bring back their trays each day, and then take them home. It’s the perfect system,” stated Bauer.
Starting the 2017-2018 school year, students will be required to bring their own trays if they want lunch. Trays can be found to order from: www.centralrestaurant.com .
