As many of us get ready to pull the plug on Facebook in favor of other means of social media , Facebook released a new app on Tuesday in an attempt to keep their wavering “Friends” online. The new App called “Paper” is Facebook’s latest attempt to reinvent itself. So will it work and keep us on Facebook?
After hearing some buzz about the app on the radio, I decided to check it out myself. Upon finding it in the App Store, I immediately noticed all of the 5 star reviews that it has received.
Paper is Facebook’s version of Twitter and seems to have a lot of popularity so far. Like Twitter, which is very popular for fast updates in 144 characters or less and passing a message on quickly, Paper has sections that allow users to stream headlines from around the world, stay updated on pop culture, all while staying connected to your Facebook friends.
With Paper users can also add different sections to your timeline that can be easily organized and sorted through. These different sections include news headlines, pop culture, sports, and cute (for whenever you want to look at adorable pictures of baby puppies).
Will this make me more likely to go on Facebook? My answer, maybe for now, but it will probably not replace my twitter account.
My verdict – Facebook’s new addition Paper will most likely allow it to hang on to some of its users for now, but in a couple of weeks or months it will probably slip back underneath the shadows of Twitter.
