Johnny Manziel is one of the most electrifying football players the collegiate level has ever seen. Manziel dominates Sports Center clips with his on and off field actions. Manziel has recently been getting media backlash for is his decision to enter the NFL draft. Many analysts and reporters believe he is too inexperienced and to immature to be playing on a professional level, and they believe he will not be able to scramble and bounce around defenses like he did in college. Also, Manziel is smaller than the average quarterback height which is 6’2”. Manziel has been in some trouble outside the game, with his excessive partying and his underage drinking at the time. As a result of his actions Manziel was suspended for a half of a football game. Despite opposite opinion, I believe Johny Football is going to have success in the NFL because he is going to have the assistance of experienced teammates to work with as well as a quality coaching staff on whichever team he goes to.
Many teams are interested in Johnny Manziel and his talents, such as The Cleveland Browns and The Houston Texans. Both teams would be a good fit for Manziel, because each team has aspects that would help Manziel develop.
The Browns have two good receiving options in Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron. Both players ranked at the top of the league in their positions. Manziel would also have a veteran running back in Willis McGahee to take some pressure away from him and give him the option of running the ball. The Browns also released Ryan Schumer and are now in search of a new coach. The Browns will most likely bring in a coach that will build a playbook around Manziel and his style of play. The only downside for Manziel playing for the Browns is that they do not have one of the highest ranked offensive lines in the league and a small quarterback like him may not be durable.
The Texans offer a strong core of receivers in Andre Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins, and Keshawn Martin. They also have one of the best offensive lines and a great running back in Arian Foster. Houston would be the best fit for Manziel. He would get to work with a new coach, Bill O’Brien. Manziel would also be able to get advice from veteran quarterback Matt Schaub.
Experts say that collegiate level dominating quarterbacks like Johnny Manziel and Aaron Rodgers don’t thrive in the NFL because their play style doesn’t work at the professional level. Experts believe that bland pocket passing quarterbacks like Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger coming out of college are the most successful and are more likely to have promising careers in the NFL. Experts were correct with their opinion of Tim Tebow, his two years of playing were brief and disappointing. However, Manziel is different. In his last year at Texas A. and M., Manziel worked pocket passing into his playing style. Of the 37 touchdowns he threw in the last season, 27 of them came from in the pocket. If he continues to progress in this style of passing, Manziel will be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL. No matter what team he plays for, the future looks bright for Johnny Manziel.
