As the biggest stars in music gathered for the 55th annual Grammy Awards, there was something new on the agenda. CBS issued a Grammy Dress code that stated that the outfits worn on the red carpet should not be too revealing or show too much skin. Although these memos were sent out to all those who attended, there were some rule breakers!
Rihanna is the first one to kick off my list. She is known for wearing crazy, out there and revealing clothing, but at this year’s Grammys she abided by the dress code. Wearing a custom Azzedine Alaia red dress, with Neil Lane jewelry and Manolo Blahnik shoes, Rihanna looked extremely glamorous walking that red carpet.
Before she opened the show with her hit song “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” Taylor Swift posed on the carpet in a beautiful off white J. Mendel gown. She accented it with Jimmy Choo shoes, Ofira ring, Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a bracelet by Jaimin with Lorraine Schwartz.
One who didn’t follow the guidelines for the dress code was Jennifer Lopez. Some would say she was emulating Angelina Jolie at the Oscars last year, by wearing a black revealing Anthony Vaccarello dress. To finish her look off, she paired her dress with a Jimmy Choo bag, Norman Silverman jewelry and Tom Ford shoes.
New mom and “Skyfall” singer, Adele, glowed in her red patterned, knee-length Valintno dress. It was a colorful choice compared to her usual simple black dress.
Carrie Underwood who always looks stunning, looked beyond gorgeous in a black (with a hint of white) Roberto Cavalli gown. Complete with $31 million worth of Johnathon Arndt diamond jewelry.
Carly Rae Jespen wore a black/charcoal Roberto Cavalli gown, with a Cuyana bracelet, a Reece Hudson clutch, Jerome C. Rousseau heels, and a H. Stern Corpo 18K yellow gold ring.
Country singer Miranda Lambert looked beautiful in a black Roberto Cavalli.
Among those who chose to wear red Sunday night, Natasha Bedingfield looked incredible in an Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swans gown, with Brian Atwood heels, and Marina B jewelry.
After her show stopping performance at the super bowl, Beyonce stepped onto the red carpet wearing a white and black Osman Studio jumpsuit accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a Swarovski’s black rectangular Gemma clutch.
Kelly Rowland, Destiny’s child singer, broke a few rules with her show all black Georges Chakra dress. With that she wore Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Nicole Kidman stepped out, accompanied by husband Keith Urban, wearing a beautiful Vera Wang dress. Complimented by L’Wren Scott heels, and carrying a Rodger Vivier clutch. She accessorized with Fred Leighton 19th Century green enamel, yellow gold and diamond snake cuff, as well as a pyramid shaped yellow gold pendant earrings.
Estelle showed off her self-designed, midriff-baring ensemble accompanied by Brian Atwood shoes.
Despite the restrictions surrounding the red carpet at the Grammys, the stars looked as glamorous as ever. Many outstanding artists took home awards for their previous years of hard work. These are just a few of the dresses that rocked the red carpet, for more visit the galleries on US Magazine: http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/grammys-2013
