After gambling his life and winning the deadliest game, Seong Gi-hun returned with 45.6 billion dollars. The game’s custom was to collect a maximum of 456 players and make them play some childhood games in order to ensure a negotiated handsome amount of prize money. Anyone who wins the game would receive the money and anyone who loses halfway will be ‘shot’ as a result of being ‘eliminated’.
However, despite being one of the survivors, Seong Gi-hun was hell bent on stopping the fatal game at any cost. He sets out on a quest where he re-enters the game, fully aware of his life being at stake.
Released on 26th of December, squid Game season 2 gained much popularity among people after three whole years of waiting from the ending of season 1.
Following the release, reviews came pouring in, with opinions being widely varied. For me personally, the overall series was really well done. The game selection and character choices were really good and really succeeded in catching the viewer’s attention. This series had an effect that held me throughout the whole series, and had me constantly questioning what would happen next.
Despite my raving reviews, ‘Squid Game 2’ has many blatant plot holes which are left hanging for the next season. The first few episodes (before the game started) were stretched unnecessarily long and the series took a significant amount of time to take flight. Some characters lacked in-depth descriptions of their background. This calls into question many unanswered events. Besides, at the end point of the season, a significant amount of time was wasted on fighting scenes.
If you are sensitive to gore images, ‘Squid Game’ is obviously not for you.
I rate the whole series 8/10.
