For the last day of book reviews, especially for it being on Christmas day, I figured it would only be right for me to review a winter book!
Snowed In by Catherine Walsh was one of the silliest quick reads that I’ve read in a while. The book follows Megan, who is finally coming home for Christmas in the small town she grew up in after going ‘MIA’ for 5 years.
Coming back wasn’t easy considering her last impression with her village was standing up her fiancé at the altar and running away to Dublin. However, after bumping into an old peer from her school days, Christian and Megan make a deal to fake-date in order to keep themselves out of the constant nagging of the village family and friends.
The author’s writing revealed witty characters with genuinely funny banter. The book was dual POV, and I’ll argue that it was done extremely well. The fast paced writing and short chapters definitely kept me intrigued throughout the entire book.
For reading this in the height of December and its holiday season, I found it perfect and honestly exactly what I needed. In a way, to explain it, it was as if I was reading a well-done hallmark movie.
While this doesn’t exactly matter, I loved the cover. I know that you should never judge a book by its cover; however, it was the bright cover that exactly caught my eye in the book store, forcing me to read the synopsis and head right to the cashier.
I also think this book was a great palette cleanser. In the midst of my many half-finished series, this was the cutest little break in between books that actually required me to understand and process the plot.
I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars!
Thanks for joining Alyssa, Gianna, and I on this fun little series of articles. We hope everyone has a great break and a happy holiday season!
