“What’s the point of giving someone a beautiful death if you can’t give yourself a beautiful life?”
I think this is the perfect preface for this book and it was what made me want to read the book in the first place. The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mikki Brammer was such a great read and I wish I could read it over and over.
While at points it was very sad, it just had such a good story line and everything fit so perfectly. The main character, Clover, has been around death her entire life and eventually becomes a death doula. But because of how much time she spends around dying people, she never really gets to enjoy her own life.
Even though she is constantly teaching others how to deal with their grief, she isn’t doing a very good job at dealing with hers after the death of her grandfather. When a lady who is dying sends her on an adventure to dig up a forgotten love story, Clover digs up some of her own feelings and finally allows herself to have a life of her own.
This book was just the perfect book, it was emotional, happy and sad, and it was written so beautifully. It will make you think and it will teach you to appreciate all that you have in life. I think this book is perfectly fitting around the holiday season because we often tend to forget to be thankful for everything that we already have. Anyways this was another five-star read of mine and you should definitely check it out.
