You have to read this book. This is one that I would’ve never thought I’d pick up. To me, it had sort of a cheesy preface and I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. You will fall in love with the characters, with the setting, and with the magic in The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune.
In the world of Linus, one of the main characters, he works for the government but not your usual government. It’s the government in charge of magical youth and he’s a case worker. And while Linus seems to be a very grumpy, banal man, so much changes throughout the book. When he’s assigned to a case of a family of 6 “dangerous” magical children, he must decide between what he believes in or what he’s been told to believe in for so long.
You will love the magical children and you will love their guardian, Arthur, as well. While reading this you will feel as though you are at home with their family and you will feel the magic all around you. It’s a cute book but I am 99 percent sure it will make you cry.
And also the way they talk about the problems in their world, in this book, is very real compared to the problems in our world politically. Overall, the book is just very very good and I urge you to pick it up because you won’t be able to put it down. This is another one of my five-star reads. And if you love this one as much as I did, don’t worry because there is a sequel, and it is just as good if not better.
