Okay, get cozy for this one. For this book, you’ll want your favorite tea, a comfy sweater, and a cat to cuddle with (or a dog, cats are much better though). You will finish this and have the warmest feeling for the rest of the day. The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer is the perfect, warmest, and coziest book for you to read this December.
Many people, including myself, find comfort in reading a good book. Well the main character, Lucy, does the same, especially since having a hard childhood. She is obsessed with a specific series and now as an adult, she can share her love of reading and her favorite author with a young boy who lost his parents.
But when the author releases a new book, alongside the book, there will be a contest for someone to win the only copy of the book. Lucy will do anything to win. But sometimes the world has other plans. Now I won’t go into much more detail, no one likes spoilers. But please, please, please, just read this book.
This book will make you smile, it will make you cry, it will keep your attention, and you will never want it to end. If you’re in a slump, this is the perfect book to fix that. It’s quick, easy, and lighthearted. You will love the characters and be sad to let them go, (hey, Meg Shaffer, write a sequel please).
This was a five-star read for me, and I want to re-read it soon. At this point I’m practically begging you to read this book, that’s how good it was. And just because I said it was easy, I don’t think it was a dumb book. It was beautifully written, but also poignant at times. I’ll stop talking about it now so you can finally start reading it, (because I’m sure you’ve already reserved it from the library or drove to Barnes and Noble to grab a copy).
