Last week, the class of 2027 held their elections, ushering in a new wave of leadership. While seniors and juniors elected their officers at the end of last year, the class of 2027 elected theirs last week. These new officers are set to bring a dynamic energy to their class and reflect the motto of North Penn United. The sophomores elected Bailey Bart as their president, Lily Wang as vice president, Jason Kong as treasurer, and Yashvi Patel as their secretary. Here’s a deep dive into each officer, who they are, and what they are planning for this year.
Bailey Bart
What does being an officer mean to you?
“To me, being an officer means making school a place where students feel welcome and encouraged to participate in various activities. I want to be a loyal person that my peers can look to as a positive role model and influence on the school. I hope to impact the sophomore class by inspiring others to be the best version of themselves and someone people can relate to for common goals and/or struggles.”
What are you hoping to bring to your position?
“I am hoping to give engaging events and ideas that will bring the sophomore class together because in the end, we are all experiencing high school for the first time. It may not be the easiest thing to acclimatize to but I want to make sure there are opportunities for everyone to get involved at school.”
Who is the most influential leader in your life?
“The most influential leader in my life is my mom because she is constantly providing love and support for my brothers and I in all that we do. She has always pushed me to try my hardest and is someone that I look to for advice. My mom continues to inspire me everyday and I hope to one day be as strong as a mother as she is.”
What kind of culture are you striving to create within the class of 2027 as a new leader?
“I strive to create an inclusive and positive culture within the class of 2027 as a new leader because it is important to me and the school as a whole. Inclusion, acceptance, respect, and understanding make life more enjoyable, which I hope to continue to promote as president.”
Lily Wang
What does being an officer mean to you?
“Being an officer to me means being a voice for all students in the class of 2027. I want to impact the school in a way that all students feel like they get a say in their school government. Good leaders shouldn’t make others sad that they have to listen to them, but rather feel contempt for their elected individual and the skills they bring to the table.”
