Is your playlist becoming repetitive? Are you getting bored of the same music over and over again? Well, you’re in luck because there are so many new albums to discover, varying in all different genres and moods. Here are my favorites and my top five albums that I recommend to you.
5. Who Really Cares- TV Girl
For those of you who don’t know TV Girl, they are a band that has taken the world by storm. They’re known for their upbeat. 60s bubble gum pop-inspired beats mixed with their melancholy lyrics. Many of their songs have become famous on TikTok making their popularity skyrocket. Who Really Cares truly expresses what it means to be in a relationship filled with toxicity, sadness, and intimacy. It also gives a strange feeling of nostalgia when listening. The most popular songs on the album are Not Allowed, Cigarettes Out The Window, and, Taking What’s Not Yours. This album is for you if you’re into soothing yet sad music. Overall, I give this album of 8.5/10.
4. Orquideas- Kali Uchis
This album just released in January, and I haven’t stopped listening to it since. Kali Uchis is known for her beautifully written lyrics that mesh well with her pop-esque and girly sounds. She has been taking her artistry to the next level repeatedly and is only continuing to do so. Uchis uses Spanish Lyrics and Latin sounds to further tap into the rich culture and to illustrate the extraordinary experience of being a woman of color. She explores the ideas of romance, heartbreak, and loneliness in almost all of her albums, but Orquideas in particular truly captures those ideas. Some of the best songs on the album are Te Mata and Igual Que Un Angel. I would rate this album an 8.5/10
3. Immunity- Clairo
This has to be one of my favorite albums of all time because it truly explores teenage sadness. Clairo is a singer who has been around since 2016, and she is most recognized for songs such as “Pretty Girl” and “Flaming Hot Cheetos” which were both viral hits at the time. She’s usually known for her bedroom pop type of sound, but with Immunity, she changes it up, tapping into multiple different genres. Some being soft rock and electropop. Her quiet and soft singing also evokes a sort of calmness, even when she’s speaking on the saddest topics. My favorite tracks on this album are Softly and North. I would rate this 9/10.
2. Igor- Tyler, The Creator
Tyler, The Creator has been a prominent figure in rap music for a very long time. Igor is simply one of his most iconic albums because it explores themes of jealousy, heartbreak, and of course, sadness. His lyricism is truly immaculate and gut-wrenching. This album can be a lot so if you’re sensitive to this I wouldn’t recommend this. But overall it is one of my favorite albums. Some songs that I recommend are Igor’s Theme and Are We Still Friends. I would also give this album a 9/10.
1. Heaven Knows- PinkPantheress
Heaven Knows is not only my favorite album but also my favorite piece of media ever. PinkPantheress is also one of my favorite artists. PinkPantheress started as a normal teenager making music on SoundCloud but has since become a prominent name in modern pop culture. She is known for her cute but electric sounds, but yet at the same her music is strangely depressing. Heaven Knows just released in November, and Pinkpantheress has already improved her sounds so much more. You may know her for her viral hit Boy’s A Liar, which is also on this album. Heaven Knows also features some prominent names in pop music right now, such as Ice Spice and Central Cee. My favorite songs on this album are Feelings and Another Life. This album is a 10/10.
