2023 left behind a legacy of great albums, including Travis Scott’s highly anticipated Utopia, Drake’s For All the Dogs, and others from Taylor Swift, Young Thug, Gunna, and Metro Boomin. As music listeners enter 2024, they are excited for even more records. Here are the most anticipated albums of 2024!
Drake
Although he just dropped a heavy 23-song project, you can bet on some new music from Drizzy. On November 17, 2023, he dropped Scary Hours 3, a 6-song addition to For All the Dogs. In the trailer, he tells us that he feels like he’s in that mental state without doing anything. He tells us that he made every song in the past 5 days.
Frank Ocean
Having dropped his last album in 2016, fans of Frank Ocean are eagerly waiting for new music. He was supposed to drop an album in 2020, but it was canceled due to his brother’s unfortunate passing. However, Frank Ocean has recently been unusually active, posting multiple Instagram stories daily. He even posted two new snippets, clearly hinting at a new project. Hopeful fans can keep their hope for one more year.
Metro Boomin
Leland Tyler Wayne is one of the greatest producers of our time. He has consistently produced for the biggest names in the industry. Earlier this month, he promised fans at least three albums to come out in 2024. Of these three, one is a collaboration album with Future and one with JID. Fans are promised at least another album before the year ends.
J. Cole
Jermaine Cole is undeniably one of the greatest musicians ever to touch a pen, and his new music is confirmed to be a good listen. Recently, Cole has been featured on many songs, sneakily teasing his brand new album, The Fall Off. Supposedly to be his final album before his retirement, J. Cole has been teasing the album for the last couple of years. In May, J. Cole was featured on a Summer Walker song where he says, “Waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making.” Having been a little over half a year since that lyric, fans can assume that the album is coming any day now.
SZA
SZA, having released her album SOS in 2022, has been relatively quiet except for a few features. At a concert a couple of months ago, she announced that she would be dropping a deluxe album very soon, called Lana. It will consist of around 10-11 songs, so it can be considered an album of its own. In December, she posted six possible album covers on Instagram, all with the caption “LANA.” Fans can expect this album to drop any day now.
Playboi Carti
Carti has been consistently posting new snippets and songs across YouTube and Instagram. Plus, we fans “guaranteed” an album this year because he dropped his song “2024”, which stated multiple times that he would drop his brand new album Music this year. However, whether or not the album will consist of new material is yet to be known.
Kanye West
Let’s be real; he probably won’t drop, but his fans still hold hope.
Taylor Swift
Taylor is still on tour across multiple countries, and fans are skeptical if she will drop this year, but it is rumored that late fall is the most likely date, keeping consistent with her previous album drops. Being one of the most productive artists as she has released 10 studio albums in her 17 years, around 1 every 19 months, fans are sure to get at least one more album before her well-deserved break.
