30 assignments due. College applications. Tests on the daily. Multiple tasks. Only one student. Overwhelmed and stressed, every student is trying to raise their heads above the flood of never-ending school work. With this in mind, North Penn High School teachers shared what they wish they knew in high school with hopes that it could help alleviate some of this stress.
This advice is meant to help students hone in on what is most important, coming from someone who has been in their shoes and succeeded.
Shannon McCracken: Anatomy 1 and 2 teacher
“Some of the “stuff” I didn’t think I would need I actually do need as an adult! I didn’t enjoy math when I was in school and I struggled with it. I didn’t think I would need it but as a homeowner, you use a lot of math!”
Daniel Huston: Pre-Calculus teacher
“I wish I managed my time better and prepared a little bit each day leading up to the testing day, instead of waiting until the last minute to prepare for tests/quizzes.”
Summer Sieller: English 10 and Women’s Voices teacher
“I wish I knew that struggles are okay and are such small chapters in our stories. I spent too much time feeling defeated or overwhelmed by some relationships that I now realize made me stronger and prepared me for the person I am today.”
Jennifer Ruppel: Chemistry teacher
“I stressed a lot about grades in high school, and while they are important, I worried way too much about the little things. I always tried my best, and wish I wasn’t so hard on myself. “
Christina Greenwood: Algebra and Trigonometry teacher
“Some of these people will remain your best friends, but the other truth is that you will never see or talk to many of these people again. Remember, friends come and go. And that is okay!!”

This is so sweet. It’s nice to remember that our teachers were High Schoolers once, and they were stressed about their grades and relationships and everything. It’s important to slow down!
