Fun Games to Play on Game Night

Here are some of my family’s favorite games to play on game night.

What happened to the beloved family game nights? Is it the classic excuse of “we are too busy”? Is it that we’d rather be on our phones or stream the newest series on Netflix than socialize with our family?

The nights of playing games like Monopoly or Scrabble with my family are times I remember very vividly. Recently, my family has started to have more of those classic game nights like we used to. We don’t play a lot of the new games like Cards Against Humanity, we play more of the classics.

Whether it’s a rainy night or just a random Tuesday, here are some games that your family might want to consider playing.

Cards:

There are lots of different games you can play with a standard deck of cards. Some card games you might enjoy are Poker, War, Spades or Trash.

My family likes to play Euchre. This is a four player game that requires only the 9’s, 10’s, Queens, Kings, Aces and Jacks, which can be the most powerful card. It’s a game that my family from New York plays so you might not have heard of it for that reason. However, it is similar to Spades.

Don’t forget about other fun card games like Uno, What Do You Meme and Apples to Apples.

Board Games:

Depending on how long you intend to play, there are tons of different board games to choose from.

If you’re looking for a game that might take about 30 minutes to an hour, try Candyland, Chutes and Ladders or Sorry.

Looking to play a game that’s going to last all night? Take your shot at Monopoly, Risk or Trivial Pursuit.

My favorite board game is Settlers of Catan. It is a strategy game that requires you to work around your resources in building your settlements, roads and cities.

Dice:

If cards and boards aren’t your style, shake it up a little and play some dice games. Some games you could play are Yahtzee, Left, Right or Center and Bunco.

Yahtzee is my favorite dice game to play. We take it very seriously when we play.

These are just some of the games that we play as a family. What are some games you like to play with your family and friends?
