Disney Wait Times: What are you waiting for?

Maureen Gambogi

There is no better time for you to plan your best Disney experience than right now!

What time is it? It’s time for you to book a trip to Disney and know what rides are worth waiting for. Lucky for you, there is no wait time to start reading my rating on these hit-or-miss attractions below!

Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest

Expected time: 45 minutes

Actual time: 52 minutes

Worth the Wait? This was the first ride I went on during my Disney trip and it definitely was one of the most thrilling rides that I have been on. Whether you’re going forwards, going backwards, in the sunlight, or in the pitch-dark caves, this rollercoaster was so much fun and I would stop by Animal Kingdom just to do this ride over and over again.

Magic Kingdom

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Expected time: 1 hour and 10 minutes

Actual time: 1 hour and 42 minutes

Worth the Wait? I remember this roller coaster being a lot different from when I was younger compared to now. Although this is a really fun and standard roller coaster, I would not wait an hour and forty-two minutes again. With the line moving really slowly and the coaster breaking down for about fifteen minutes it felt like the line was never ending. If the wait time was 45 minutes I would definitely put it on my to-do list but otherwise, I would find a different ride with a shorter line.

Space Mountain

Expected time: 45 minutes

Actual time: 57 minutes

Worth the Wait? This iconic inside roller coaster is most definitely worth the wait. With many twists and turns along with average-sized drops it is a very enjoyable ride. Although the line was longer than the expected wait time, the coaster was a good length which made the wait time reasonable.

Epcot

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Expected time: 5 minutes

Actual time: 2 minutes

Worth the Wait? This is a soothing family ride that tells a cute story of Nemo and his friends. For a two-minute wait, I would definitely recommend and enjoy a laid-back ride.

Soarin

Expected time: 30 minutes

Actual time: 18 minutes

Worth the Wait? One of the most famous attractions at Epcot and only an eighteen-minute wait sounds like a good time to me. Traveling all around the world and feeling like you’re soaring through the air was such a cool experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Mission: SPACE

Expected time: 5 minutes

Actual time: 2 minutes

Worth the Wait? Although I only waited two minutes for this ride, I probably would not go on it again. There is so much to do in Epcot and I don’t see this as a priority since it did not have the most updated technology and gave a claustrophobic feeling.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Lightning Lane Time: 23 minutes

Worth the Wait? This is by far the best ride I went on throughout my entire trip at Disney. This ride is very new and it shows. With a backward launch and an oscillating coaster, it made this experience unlike any other. It definitely got my adrenaline pumping and was so much fun but I would definitely get the lightning lane pass. Since it is so new, the regular was so backed up that they were no longer allowing more riders for the regular line so if this is on your to-do list (which it should be) definitely go through the lightning lane.

Test Track

Single Rider Line: 17 minutes

Worth the Wait? My hair was flying through my face because this ride is so high speed. With little time left at the park, I went through the single rider line with my friends so we could get on quicker and I ended up on the ride with them so I would suggest using that strategy if you are short on time. This attraction is very entertaining as it allows you to design your own car and is a high-speed race track that makes you feel like you are in an actual race car.

Hollywood Studios

Toy Story Mania

Lightning Lane Time: 7 minutes

Worth the Wait? This 3D interacting ride is a head-to-head competition between you and a friend to see who gets the highest score. I used the lightning lane, thinking it would have a long line. Although I got on in seven minutes, the regular line had an expected time of thirty minutes so I don’t think the lightning lane was entirely necessary. Either way, this ride was very exciting and I would go on it again.

Alien Swirling Saucers

Expected time: 20 minutes

Actual time: 27 minutes

Worth the Wait? This may seem like a kiddy ride but it will swing you around and will give you the biggest smile on your face. The wait was a little over the expected time, but that wouldn’t stop me from riding it a second time.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Lightning Lane Time: 13 minutes

Worth the Wait? This ride is new to the park so the regular line had a wait time that went up to an hour long so, in my opinion, the lightning lane is a must. The trackless ride is something I have never experienced before and made the ride’s next move unpredictable. I would go on it again but would wait for the wait time to go down and beware because you will have the song “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” in your head for the rest of the day.

Muppet Vision 3D

Expected time: 10 minutes

Actual time: 10 minutes

Worth the Wait? This show was very fun to watch and included interactives such as bubbles, water, and wind throughout the comedic experience. For a ten-minute wait time, I would definitely recommend it if you need a good laugh.

Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Lightning Lane Time: 7 minutes

Worth the Wait? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive the famous Millenium Falcon? There are many different functions on this interactive ride such as the pilot, gunner, or engineer. This was a really cool experience with the amount of detail they put into this ride but would definitely go through the lightning lane for a short wait time.

Slinky Dog Dash

Expected time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

Actual time: 1 hour and 26 minutes

Worth the Wait? It was hot and the line was long, but this roller coaster made it all worth it. With this attraction being fairly new, I definitely made it a point to make sure I got to experience this ride on this coaster since Toy Story is one of my favorite movies. The line was set up like you were put right into the movie and there was even a Sarge and Bucket O drum lime to make this long wait more enjoyable.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Lightning Lane Time: 2 minutes

Worth the Wait? With this ride having the most hype at Hollywood Studios, I was expecting a very long line so I decided to use the lightning. I went at night, around 8:15, and the expected time for the regular line was fifteen minutes. Although I got right on the ride, I would’ve waited through the regular line but the ride itself was very realistic. I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan but this ride was definitely worth riding. I even was on the ride to go on it a second time, but it broke down right before I was about to go on so I would take that situation into consideration when choosing the right time to ride this attraction.

Universal Studios

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman

Expected time: 10 minutes

Actual time: 2 minutes

Worth the Wait? This 3D ride puts you into the spider-verse as you weave your way to save Spiderman from his worst enemies. For as short as the line was, I would definitely ride this again but be ready to come out of it a little damp.

Hogwarts Express

Expected time: 10 minutes

Actual time: 4 minutes

Worth the Wait? As a Harry Potter fan, I thought this train ride was just like the experience from the first movie and was an easy way to travel from the Island of Adventure to Universal Studios. With a four-minute wait, I would definitely recommend but anything over thirty minutes I would just walk.

Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon

Expected time: 25 minutes

Actual time: 4 minutes

Worth the Wait? This 3D attraction stars Jimmy Fallon as you race him throughout New York and you end up navigating your way through much more. This was a very thrilling experience and was a very enjoyable experience for a short wait time.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

Expected time: 45 minutes

Actual time: 38 minutes

Worth the Wait? This inside 3D coaster has a very quick start with an edging drop. The coaster alone was very thrilling and the addition of the 3D experience made it extraordinary. The wait did not feel as long as it was since the wait experience makes you feel like you’re actually in Gringotts.

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls

Expected time: 45 minutes

Actual time: 48 minutes

Worth the Wait? The Florida weather can easily be scorching hot and this ride will promise to cool you off. This log floor includes three large drops, getting you soaked with each one, with the biggest drop being a seventy-five-foot drop.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem

Expected time: 40 minutes

Actual time: 38 minutes

Worth the Wait? Have you ever wanted to work for Gru and become a minion? This ride was full of minion mayhem. Although I feel like this experience would have been better if it was 3D, the journey to becoming a minion was lots of fun.

The Simpsons Ride

Expected time: 20 minutes

Actual time: 7 minutes

Worth the Wait? If you’re ever in a goofy mood, this is the ride for you. This motion simulator is much like the Simpsons, entertaining and ridiculous. I shared lots of laughs with my friends on this ride and would do it again for that aspect of it.
