Star Spangled opportunity

Do you want to be the next Andy Grammer and sing the national anthem at the World Series? If yes, you can potentially get experience by entering in the NP Knights Baseball national anthem competition.

This will be the second year, the NP baseball team has had a national anthem competition Last year, in the inaugural contest, Akshay Krishnan won with his rousing electric guitar rendition of the anthem.

“Akshay’s entry last year was outstanding. We had about six entries last year, ranging from solo performances to groups. Some were instrumental, some vocal. It was a heck of a collection of talent from our student body,” head coach Kevin Manero said.

Open to all students. Students may sing or make an instrumental cover of the national anthem for a chance to have their rendition played at every 2023 season baseball game and have the opportunity to perform live on senior night.

Why you should enter the competition:

  1. You can practice singing in front of a crowd if you want to have a career in the music industry.
  2. You can gain publicity throughout the school and Towamencin community.
  3. You can leave a forever mark on NP baseball’s history.

Don’t worry if you don’t want to submit a solo entry. Entries are allowed to be one person or multiple! In previous years, all different types of entries have won so don’t hold back.

“We think it’s an awesome way to bring our musical and athletic talents in the school together on one stage. We have so much talent at North Penn High School, that it only makes sense that our own students’ musical abilities should serve as part of the soundtrack of baseball games too,” Manero reflected.

Send an audio file of your rendition of the national anthem to [email protected] or reach out if you have any questions. All entries must be submitted by March 5.
