Super recipes for a Super Sunday

As the Philadelphia Eagles head to Arizona to take on the Kanas City Chiefs for Superbowl LVII, here are some of the best recipes to make for the big game!

Philly Cheesesteaks (via Delish “Easy Homemade Philly Cheesesteaks”)

Philly cheesesteaks are vital to Philly’s culture. The traditional cheesesteak contains just three things (the steak, the onions, and the cheese or as we say in Philly Wiz)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 2 green peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 red peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 lb. sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 slices provolone
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Directions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon of oil. Add peppers and onion and season with salt. Cook, stirring often, until caramelized, 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Add remaining tablespoon oil and cook steak until it has almost reached your preferred doneness, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Divide mixture among hoagie rolls and serve.

Taco Dip (via Delish “Taco Dip”)

This creamy dip is a perfect last minute addition if you want an easy appetizer to add to your spread. Pair with tortilla chips and call it a match made in heaven.

Ingredients

  • 2 (8-oz.) blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1/4 c. pickled jalapeños, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 3 tbsp. taco seasoning
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 c. shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 c. shredded cheddar
  • 1/2 c. shredded Monterey jack
  • 1/2 c. grape tomatoes, quartered
  • 1/4 white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 c. sliced black olives
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Directions

  • In a large bowl, stir together cream cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, lime juice, taco seasoning, and garlic powder, and season with salt. Transfer mixture to a large serving dish.
  • Garnish dip with toppings and serve with chips.

  • 1 cup pizza sauce

Directions

  • Press each biscuit into 6-inch round. Place on 2 large or 3 small greased cookie sheets. Top each round with pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni.
  • Bake at 375°F 10 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are deep golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Chicken Wings (via Preppy Kitchen)

Though they are simple to make, Chicken wings can be the perfect appetizer for everyone to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Wings
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Paprika
  • Pepper
  • Baking Soda

Directions

  •  In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
  • Add the chicken wings and toss until well-coated.
  • Spread the wings into an even layer on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake for 20 minutes until the skins are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F on an instant-read thermometer. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the wings to a large mixing bowl, reserving the drippings. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and reserved drippings. Add the butter mixture to the bowl with the chicken wings, tossing to coat. Serve immediately.

Football Themed Dirt Cups (via The First Year)

After all these savory foods, of course, we need a dessert that will be sweeter than the victory.

Ingredients

  • Milano cookies
  • Chocolate almond bark or chocolate candiquik
  • 1 package oreos, pulsed into crumbs
  • 1 box chocolate pudding, plus milk listed on the back
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • green food coloring

Directions

  • In a small pot over low heat, melt the chocolate almond bark or chocolate candiquik. Dip one Milano cookie into the chocolate at a time, use a fork to remove the cookie from the chocolate, and set it on a silicone lined baking sheet to harden. Dip all the cookies and allow the chocolate to harden.
  • To make a small batch of royal icing, combine powdered sugar, meringue power and water into a small bowl, use an electric mixer to beat it until it’s combined and smooth – 2 minutes. Transfer the royal icing to a squeeze bottle for optimal control.
  • After the chocolate dipped cookies harden, draw football stitches on each cookie with the royal icing. I find it easiest to draw the center strip on all the cookies first, let it harden, then go back and add the stitches to each cookie.
  • Place a metal or glass mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer while you prepare the pudding. This bowl will be used to make the whipped cream.
  • Make the pudding as directed on the back of the box. Allow the pudding to set in the fridge
  • Blend the oreos in a blender or food processor until you have oreo crumbs.
  • Remove the bowl from the freezer, and add the heavy cream, powdered sugar and green food coloring to the bowl, mix with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form, 3-4 minutes.
  • To assemble the dirt cups, place 1 tbsp of oreo crumbs (or more) in the bottom of each cup. Layer with a large spoonful of chocolate pudding. Spoon or pipe on the green whipped cream. Top each cup with a football cookie right before serving. The pudding cups can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge, but we sure to add the cookie to the top right before serving.
