Senior Spotlight: Nicole Chiu
Future Plans?
I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the fall. I plan to major in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Favorite NPHS memory?
Performing at the annual Broadway Cares Gala my junior year has always been a highlight. It’s so fun getting on stage and sharing your talents with everyone while raising money for such a great cause. Especially since BC/EFA was the last normal Thespian event before the pandemic, looking back on it makes it even more special!
Favorite classes?
I took Genetics/Embryology and AP Chem my junior year and loved them both. Science in general interests me, but these classes always made me want to expand on what I was learning in school.
Favorite teachers?
My favorite teachers would have to be Mr. Christopher, Señor Vidal, and Mrs. Roney. I was lucky to have Mr. Christopher two years in a row for Bio and Genetics. I always left class laughing from whatever random story he told our class, and I learned so much from him that I know will prepare me for college. Señor Vidal is one of the sweetest teachers I’ve had. His energy and passion for teaching made it engaging as a student and made me look forward to class every day. I’ll miss passing by his room and saying “hola.” I feel honored to have worked with Mrs. Roney throughout my three years at North Penn. In addition to being her student, she has shaped who I am as a person. I have learned so much about leadership, collaboration, and hard work that I would not have known without the opportunities she has given me.
Advice to incoming sophomores?
Get involved! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try something new. Your years in high school are one you’ll never forget, so make as many good memories as possible!
