McLaughlin Making Change
TOWAMENCIN — In a world that often forgets the importance of kindness, it’s always reassuring to find people who work tirelessly to go the extra mile. For NP senior Tabby McLaughlin, her dedication to a variety of activities has highlighted her genuine selflessness.
For many sophomores, the sheer size of North Penn High School can be quite intimidating, not to mention the various clubs to choose from. But right from the beginning, McLaughlin has been incredibly committed to her extracurricular activities, participating in most for almost three years. Besides playing softball for North Penn Valley for over five years, she has made quite an impact in our local area.
“I have tried to stay very involved with the high school since sophomore year. I enjoy being involved in Powderpuff, NHS, Link Crew. As well as having been involved in Key Club and Goodwill Ambassadors,” McLaughlin explained.
McLaughlin, whether through the halls of North Penn or in our community, is always willing to give a hand to anyone in need. Her selflessness is shown through her extra time volunteering in local community events and organizations.
“Outside of school, I am involved with Girl Scouts, which gets me involved in many different volunteer opportunities,” McLaughlin shared. “One of my favorite volunteer activities that we participate in is the Mitzvah Circle in which we package items, like clothes and shoes, for families in need. One of the other places I volunteer at is for North Penn Valley Softball. There, I help out with managing the field maintenance, and volunteer at the snack stand during the season.”
For McLaughlin, hard work is the key to success; whether it’s through her efforts in the community or in the classroom, she is consistent with every single effort she takes on. Even in the most challenging situations, you’ll find her with a smile on her face, ready to take on the world.
“Hard-work is a big part of my personality. I strongly believe that in order to achieve a certain goal, you have to work hard and put in the necessary effort required to fulfill that goal,” McLaughlin said. “With this in mind, I always try to put all of my effort into everything that I do.”
As she heads into her final semester at North Penn High School, McLaughlin has been an incredible role model for her peers. As a true Link Crew leader, she gives truly thoughtful and supportive advice to younger students.
“I don’t want to be cliche, but I always think, ‘What is the worst they can say?’, and the answer to that question is ‘No.’ That’s the worst thing someone could say if you ask a question. So, don’t be afraid to ask questions because if you don’t ask, then you’ll never know what the answer could have been,” McLaughlin said. “I also believe that it is important to be involved in your community, and volunteer work is a great way to do that. At the high school, there are many clubs centered around volunteering at different places in the community.”
