Food from the Hearth – Lansdale’s Hearth Baker and Deli
All it takes is a single step inside and a deep breath, and immediately the scent of warm, baked, deliciousness surrounds you. Mountains of fresh-baked, made from scratch, bread heap upon the counters one sees when entering the store.
Since 1979, The Hearth Baker and Deli, located at the corner of Montgomery and North Broad streets in Lansdale, has been serving the community with artisan breads and more. The bakery offers a large variety of breads and rolls, as well as hoagies, salads, sandwiches, and wraps too. They also offer hoagie trays for all your party needs, pending COVID safety guidelines of course.
As we all know, COVID has caused great damage to many small businesses across the nation. The Hearth Baker and Deli is no exception to this. With business down 45 to 50 percent from this time last year, as well as restrictions on the number of customers and workers, the bakery has had to face many unexpected challenges.
“Its more important than ever because we are really struggling to keep afloat,” manager Fran Sapp said when asked about supporting local businesses this holiday season.
The holiday season brings hope for an increase in customers, something small businesses desperately need in order to keep afloat. By making the switch from bigger businesses to supporting those close to come, we can all come together to help make this holiday season a little better on everyone, especially our own community.
“Just keep doing it small, and it’ll be good for everyone”, Sapp said.
The Hearth Baker and Deli now offers Doordash, curbside pickup, and gift certificates for customers who are unable to pick up their delicious goods in person.
