Senior Spotlight: Nicole Albright
Future Plans:
“I will be attending Williams College this fall to major in math and statistics! I hope to continue to be involved in music in college also.”
Favorite NPHS Memory:
“In my junior year, the Marching Knights were lucky enough to get to perform at a competition in Boston. In addition to performing, we had lots of free time to spend downtown. A group of us hung out for the whole trip and are still really close—we had planned to spend senior week in Greece together!”
Favorite Classes:
“I am a total STEM person, so my favorite subjects are definitely science and math. My favorite science class was definitely Chem, both honors and AP, with Mr. D’Aquanno and Mr. Keagy. In the math department, I liked AP Calc with Mr. Gourley the best. Outside of majors, Wind Ensemble and Chorus make my day fun!”
Favorite Teacher:
“This is a tough question. While I really appreciate everything that all of my teachers have done for me, I would have to choose Mr. Gourley, my math teacher. I had him for Calc in both my junior and senior years, and I always looked forward to his class (even though it was first period). It was because of his classes and his general influence that I decided to major in math. ”
Advice to incoming sophomores:
“When I was a sophomore, I was lucky enough to be in my second year as a Marching Knight, so I walked into the building with a pocket of friends. While I know that starting with a group of people isn’t possible for everyone, I would suggest the incoming class try to find a place where they feel at home. I’m sure that seems challenging in a school of 3,000 kids, but all it really takes is joining something — a sports team, a music group, a club, or just a conversation in a classroom. Don’t wait for the group to find you, reach out and become part of something—it will make your high school years so much better.”
To the class of 2021 I leave…
“A wonderful senior prom — have fun for us!”
