Alex Hayashi: Alumni Spotlight

North Penn graduate, Alex Hayashi participated on the North Penn Track and Field as a Javelin thrower. As a junior and senior he was the top javelin thrower for the team, placing 9th at the continental conference championship in 2014 and 6th in 2015.

With such success in high school, he wished to continue his track and field career at Kutztown, but ended up focusing on his academics. At Kutztown he is majoring in finance and accounting. Although he is not exactly sure about a career after college, he has goals in mind that he’d like to accomplish.

“I’m not really sure what I want to be yet. I would like to either pursue my Certified Public Accountant certification and get a job with a public accounting firm, or I would like to get my Certified Financial Planner Certification,” said Hayashi.

Favorite Part about College:

“My favorite part of college is meeting new people from various places and backgrounds. I also like becoming more independent, providing for myself, expanding horizons, and trying new things.”

What do you miss most about North Penn?

“I miss a lot! I especially miss all the teachers who helped me get through high school. I also miss all the friends I made and the memories I have with them.”

Advice to High Schoolers:

“Make the most of high school, get involved, and study hard. Show kindness to everyone, you don’t know if you will meet them in the future again. Never give up on something easily. College is a fresh start, take advantage of that.”
