This week’s Korner is killer
Well North Penn, I had an entire week to get it done. Let me just say, it’s a really difficult task to balance this added stress on top of all of my other daily struggles, but, as they say, the show will go on with or without me, and I’d much rather that I get to be a part of it. Personally I know that I can’t get anything done in school, so walking through North Penn’s hallways and sitting through class is almost a reprieve when it comes to the constant strategizing that takes place after school hours. Though I try to stay prepared, I don’t always have a contingency plan. I think that’s part of the fun of it all, never knowing what’s around the next the korner…
In this kind of endeavor, deadlines have a way of creeping up on you, usually when you least expect it. I won’t lie to you, there have been times when I’ve lain awake at night pondering whether or not the reward really is worth the late night planning, whether it was best to keep fighting or just give up. Most days I have friends in my korner, rooting for me to continue on, but it would be foolish of me to ignore my enemies who would love nothing more than for me to succumb to the pressure. Much to their dismay, I have decided to keep it at, especially when I realized my efforts now will forever be immortalized in North Penn history. There’s no sense in playing if the stakes aren’t high enough, right?
This job has forced me to be constantly on the lookout because my targets are often elusive and generally slippery when wet (but that goes for most things). I’ve even enlisted my friends for help in my weekly searches, and though they complain about improper recognition, all I have to say to that is I promise to remember them when I’m fabulously wealthy in the near future. It’s the least I can do, especially because I refuse to give them credit for my immediate successes, but what can I say? Some things are better left to mystery.
Now, I know it has been of recent talk around North Penn’s halls, so I tried to do my duty as a journalist to shed some light on this secret. Someone needed to know, and I’m glad I chose my devoted Korner readers. Who knows how much time I’ll have left after this article is published, and I refuse to go out silently. I suppose my writing process for the Korner isn’t technically a secret, but I feel better after giving you this inside look. Truthfully I don’t write the Korner. When I sit in front of my computer at 10 PM on Monday night with my glasses off and font blown up to 130%, the Korner just writes itself. (However I still am responsible for sending it to my esteemed editors at strange hours in the morning. Sorry guys, but it’s part of charm now). Though technically I’m never actually armed with the right tools for a stellar performance, the Korner always comes through. I’ve already got my target for next week. Stay vigilant, North Penn!
