For most people, gymnastics is a sport watched by millions and millions during the Olympics and international competitions in between. 34 years ago gymnastics was, believe it or not, existent in North Penn High School.

It might not have been a varsity sport, but it was a club that competed in only three dual meets. Unfortunately, this was the last year that gymnastics was present in North Penn.

“The gymnastics program in North Penn got removed because of lack of interest, old equipment that was not going to get replaced, and the potential liability of that old equipment,” said Athletic Department Secretary Linda Law, who graduated from North Penn in 1971.

The fall of North Penn gymnastics has been long forgotten over the years, but the memories of those who were involved still last a lifetime, preserved in North Penn High School’s Accolade
