TOWAMENCIN-Tuesday March 12th , the North Penn gymnasium was host to the Student Government Association’s annual Inter Club Council Volleyball Tournament where North Penn High School’s faculty and student organizations faced off in games of sets, spikes and aces. Clubs including the Italian Club, FBLA, G.A.S Night Faculty, and the Ski & Board Club were among the 15 teams matched up in the winners and losers bracket.
SGA Vice President and ICC president senior Kush Jituri commented, “Even though we had less teams participate than we had last year, I still feel that the tournament went really well. It looked like everyone was having a good time and it was a perfect mix of competition and fun.”
Although SGA was not able to get a full tournament of 24 teams, SGA Advisor Kyle Berger stated that they were looking for it to be a “fun event…not the Olympics.” The $20 entry fee charged was donated to the winning team’s charity of choice, which in this case was the National Kidney Foundation, chosen by FBLA Officer Steven Blumberg.
This is one of a few charity events that the Student Government Association will be hosting where proceeds go to charity. Later this month North Penn will be shrouded in black lights and glow sticks for Knight Glow, the school’s first informal dance in recent history. Similarly, the annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held in late April and both events’ revenue will go to charity. Knight Glow is March 22nd, $10 ticket presale and $15 at the door.
