Fashion is art. It is a way to express one’s creativity and aesthetic skills. It shows someone’s individuality and personality. Likewise, fashion designers, the masters of textiles, are the trendsetters of the world. Without them, women, as well as men, would not be able to express their unique style and flair. Therefore, it is crucial to inspire future designers who might, one day, become notorious icons in the fashion industry, like Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, and Alexander Mcqueen.
As a result, North Penn High School has, once again, held their annual Fashion Show in which students with a passion for fashion were able to reveal their most recent creations to the faculty and student body. This opportunity helped students to be able to do what they love and to experience what goes on behind the making of a runway show.
Covered in flags and iconic buildings from different countries, the stage of the auditorium was beautifully decorated according to this year’s theme, international runways. After the opening performance by the dance team, the MCs, who also modeled in the dresses they made, announced the commencement of the show.
From peplum dresses to patterned pants, the runway was filled with diverse styles. Each model wore unique outfits of very different colors and textures, and rocked the runway either in their 5” heels or in various styles of booties and flats. Also, the makeup was very well done and everyone looked stunning as they, proudly, showed the world the masterpieces they can create out of textiles.
Taylor Somerville, one of the models at the show, stated that “it was a lot of fun getting ready for the show. I loved doing my makeup and having the face paint done by the artists. I also was able to help a few of the girls do their hair and makeup, so that was really cool.”
In addition, the show was very well organized and it fully displayed the hard work of everyone involved in this event, including the Mrs. Galaton, Mrs. Townsend, North Montco Technical Career Center cosmetology students, the backstage crew, NPTV, Mr. Hynes, and of course, the fashion students at North Penn.
It is fascinating to see how this event turned out, and it, certainly, must have been exhilarating, to be part of such an amazing, artistic event.
“The best part of the show for me was being able to see everything come together in the end. As we’re working on the dresses it can be difficult to visualize the final outcome, so it was amazing to see how awesome all of the clothes turned out,” said Somerville after the show.
