SKIPPACK- From cobblestone walkways and quaint village buildings to distinctive boutiques and elegant dining options, it’s the “Skippack Charm” that attracts visitors from all over the area. Taking a modern spin on that Old-time appeal, Olcé Pizza Grill radiates a cool and comfortably casual dining experience while fostering a charm of its own.
Conveniently located on Skippack Pike within the Cedars Country Store complex, the Olcé environment caters perfectly to both families and students. In combination with its unique menu and affable servers, the restaurant’s contemporary vibe established by its high ceilings, giant lanterns, and modern art equip Olcé with all the elements necessary to be that go-to hang out spot.
Instead of the monotonous bread and butter, Olcé provides their customers with complimentary homemade pickles to preface their meal. For appetizers, they serve an assortment of salads including Mushroom Carpaccio ($5) and the Wedge ($8), which is a combination of iceberg lettuce, red peppers, and blue cheese. They also serve hors d’oeurves like the roasted shrimp plate ($10) and Antipasto ($10) which according to their menu is “some meat, some cheese, and some pickles.”
For a main course, Olcé offers a wide variety of eleven-inch personal-sized pizzas ranging from $9 to $13. In addition to the classics like pepperoni, margherita, and BLT, the pizza grill offers some unusual topping combinations like the Fernando, which is topped with sautéed zucchini, onions, mozzarella, cheddar, achiote pork, and fresh salsa. All of their pizzas are based with a simple dough and fresh made sauce and cheese that stage the perfect backdrop for the crazy topping variations. The combinations are endless as Olcé unveils a new and unique “pizza of the month.”
After the main course, Olce maintains the high quality and distinctiveness with its dessert menu. In addition to the more classic Italian choices like Biscotti ($5) and cannoli ($5), the menu includes the very popular smores pizza–a delicious eleven-inch graham cracker pie crust topped with shaved chocolate, sugar, and marshmallows.
Even though I have only dined at the restaurant a few times, the waiters and waitresses are personable enough to remember our names and favorite dishes. The chef often comes out to see if we have a suggestion for improving pizzas and salads or if we have an idea for the next pizza of the month. Although it’s nearly impossible to capture in words, the“Olcé charm” garnered from its comfortable and casual environment as well as its great menu makes Olcé Pizza Grill more than deserving of a visit.
