Mini-THON is back and bigger than ever. This overnight event, dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer, will take place on Friday April 4th, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. It promises to be a night to remember – all for a great cause.

This year marks an exciting shift for Mini-THON under the leadership of advisers Mrs. Machado and Mrs. Burner. One major change? Extending the event from six hours to a full 12-hour experience to maximize fundraising efforts and student engagement.

“We are a club full of students that are fundraising, collecting money and showing awareness to help fight childhood cancer,” Machado said.

All profits from the Mini-THON go to Four Diamonds, an organization dedicated to assisting families battling pediatric cancer.

Excitement around Mini-THON is growing, with more students joining the club and participating in fundraising efforts than in previous years. “A lot more kids have joined the club than years past, so we have a lot more students involved in preparing for the event this year. So that’s really exciting. I know that the kids are more eager to host fundraising events, so that’s been a really nice change,” Machado explained.

Mini-THON has been publicized greatly so far through the year, with new methods being used to spread the word of the event around the school.

“We just started a new Instagram, so our social media has been really benefiting. Sharing stories, creating links,” Machado said. “We’re starting fundraising pages like bingo boards so we have also been hosting sporting events like Dodgeball. We’re hoping to do a flag football tournament in the spring and different runs, so I think just the amount of fundraising and the different types of fundraising has really benefited.”

Mini-THON is more than just a night of fun – it’s a chance for students to come together and make a real impact. Make sure to pick up a permission slip from room B118. Forms are due on Friday, March 14th. Show your support for those in need by coming to the Mini-THON this spring!
