TOWAMENCIN- North Penn’s Key Club had a successful week, winning back-to-back tournaments and hosting an Induction Ceremony.
On February 29th, SGA organized its annual ICC volleyball tournament, which served great excitement to all the fans and participants. The tournament saw a total of 24 teams participate, which were divided into two brackets. After a competitive round of matches, the winners of the winning bracket, Key Club, and the winners of the losing bracket, North Penn’s Boys Tennis Team, faced off in an intense final match.
“A couple of months ago, we had a basketball tournament, and we wanted to have another sports event where people come out to and it seems like this year we had a very great turnout with a lot of different teams, we decided not to have only clubs attended but any team that wants to participate,” SGA Media Coordinator Avery Brown explained.
Participants who compete in a game and win can donate the proceeds to their chosen charity. The event serves a dual purpose: it provides entertainment and fun for the community while supporting a charitable cause.
“The winner gets to donate all the money we’ve collected to a charity of their choice. It’s a fun game for a good cause and I think it’s very different and new. It’s about a place to bring the community together while also having fun,” Brown stated.
Key Club demonstrated high skill and determination throughout their undefeated journey through every round. Their victory in the final solidified their dominance and highlighted their status as 2-time champions.
“I think we did really good. Most importantly we had good communication and the guys had good strategy. Overall I feel like we put the ball down, which lead us to being undefeated,” participant Cullen McCann stated.
After winning, Key Club donated their earnings to childhood cancer research, which exemplifies their commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community.
“It feels good to give back to childhood cancer, and it gave us something to play for,” McCann concluded.
