What schools did you apply to?
Overall I applied to a total of 10 schools. Some of my other choices included University of Pittsburgh, Univeristy of Maryland, and American University.
Where did you commit to, and why?
I committed to Vanderbilt University as a Secondary Education major. The reason I decided on Vanderbilt was for their undergraduate Peabody College of Education and Human Development. I first heard about Vanderbilt because they were the top school for education majors and once I visited, the city of Nashville convinced me. From the constant live music to the rich culture that surrounds the city, I felt at home right away.
What are your academic/career aspirations?
My hope is to double major in English Literature and Secondary Education with a minor in Political Science. My hopes are to become a high school English teacher for several years and transition into a school administrator. I am passionate about educational equity and making sure that education is accessible to all students without extra barriers. My main focus is on the multilingual community that often gets overlooked within education, but my hopes are that through school administration I am able to leave a positive impact even if its only one student who is impacted.
What are you most excited for next year?
I am most excited for the opportunity to walk to a coffee ship with newly met classmates after class to study and talk. Overall, I’m excited to be in a new environment with new people and new opportunities. I can’t wait to meet new people and go to concerts and music festivals in Nashville.
What is your favorite North Penn memory?
My favorite memory at North Penn is the ICC Volleyball tournament. Seeing all of the amazing clubs interact with one another and get competitive okaying a sport that I enjoy playing. I also have amazing memories with people I’ve met at North Penn, from the students to the teachers and even administrators, each and every one of them have played a role in shaping who i am today and have given me amazing memories to last a lifetime.
