45 days down, 135 more to go.
As marking period one ends, here are my six best moments from it.
1. Rakibul Hoque’s half-court shot
During North Penn’s annual Homecoming pep rally, senior Rakibul Houqe was chosen by the raffle to take a half-court shot for a chance to win a trip to Disney. As the entire school held its breath, Houqe released the ball into the air, and, against all odds, it swished through the net. This unforgettable moment has become a cherished North Penn memory.
2. Homecoming Spirit Week
Homecoming Spirit Week was an exciting time for students at North Penn; it was a week-long celebration that brought the entire school together—each day carried a unique theme, from “Adam Sandler,” where students dressed as the one and only Adam Sandler, to “Barbie” where the halls were filled with flashes of pink. It was a time when North Penn students showcased their unity, enthusiasm, and, of course, their school spirit.
3. School Board Debate
The North Penn School Board candidate debate, hosted by the Knight Crier, was an informative and engaging event where candidates discussed their plans and ideas for the North Penn School District. It allowed the community to get to know the candidates better and understand their visions for the future of our district.
4. Garba night
North Penn’s Indian Cultural Association (ICA) hosted a Garba Night to celebrate Navratri, which brought the rich traditions of the festival to the North Penn community. Navratri is a Hindu festival that spans nine nights and is celebrated in various parts of India. The word “Navratri” is derived from two Sanskrit words: “Nav,” meaning “nine,” and “Ratri” meaning “night.” This festival is dedicated to worshiping the goddess Durga and is a significant and auspicious period in the Hindu calendar. This year’s Garba night was a colorful and energetic event filled with traditional dance, music, and cultural food.
5. Senior Sunrise
Senior Sunrise is a cherished tradition that marks the beginning of the final year of high school for seniors. This year, seniors gathered on the turf to watch the sunrise together, symbolizing the start of their last year. It was a moment of reflection, excitement, and unity. This event created a sense of unity among the senior class, making it a memorable part of senior year.
6. Activities Fair
At the beginning of each school year, North Penn High School hosts an annual Activities Fair where students can explore the diverse range of clubs and activities available. The fair features decorative posters and passionate club members, providing returning students and sophomores a chance to discover their passions, explore new interests, and find like-minded individuals. Whether a student was interested in sports, arts, school publications, or academic enrichment, the Activities Fair was the perfect place to start a fulfilling high school year!
