If you are in the class of 2019 or 2020, you were welcomed to orientation by the North Penn High School Link Crew. As we prepare for the next school year, we also need to prepare for the incoming sophomores, class of 2021, so that they can be welcomed by an enthusiastic Link Crew.

Link Leaders are upperclassmen who help lead the underclassmen through their first year at North Penn. Being a Link Leader doesn’t mean having perfect grades or taking all high-level classes. To be a Link Leader, you need to show qualities of communication, responsibility, personality, and most importantly, you need to love North Penn.

“Students at North Penn should apply to be a Link Leader if you want to make North Penn a better place. You really have an opportunity to shape the culture and climate of the building. It’s an activity that allows you to be a mentor to sophomores. Being able to lead those students through their first year at North Penn is very meaningful,” said Student Activities Director and Link Crew advisor Mr. Kyle Berger.

If you apply to Link Crew and get accepted, you attend a few training sessions, sophomore orientation, homecoming, and you visit your sophomores once or twice a month throughout the year. It is a small commitment for a big gain. You feel as though you really help some students through their first year of high school as well as improving leadership and communication skills.

“I think at its core, Link Crew makes a big building a smaller place. Certainly, the first day of school can be overwhelming for sophomores, and our goal is to make that first day a much more enjoyable experience. It is literally the first impression that the class of 2021 will have of North Penn High School. With the program that we have, the activities we do, and the messages we try to give to the incoming sophomores, I think it’s a really good way to start the year,” said Berger.
