PHILADELPHIA-Last week members of NPTV’s crew visited Temple University to receive awards for their accomplishments this year while also learning more about the communications industry. The students met with various professionals in the industry including Amy Caples, a professor in media studies and communications and recruiting, as well as Robert Czyzewicz and Patrick Rosenbaum who both work for 20/20 visual media. They also met with Shannon McDonald, who works at WHYY, and Danny Pommells who works for Comcast Sportsnet.
While at Temple, North Penn also won many awards. Melissa Cubit won the young producers award for “Your Friends Can Wait;” Rebecca Rosenblatt won an award in the sports category for ”Harlem Wizards Visit NPHS,” and Kristina Stidham, Melissa Cubit, Justine Yeh, and Rebecca Rosenblatt won an award for their collective work writing “Mornings.”
Other North Penn winners include Lauren Schwartz in the PSA category for “You’re not alone,” Albert Schuitema and Tyler Ivey in the arts and entertainment/cultural affairs category for “Dude Report Season 9,” and Rebecca Rosenblatt in the PSA category for “Be an Upstander.”
NPTV’s crew also received two nominations for High School Newscast—“Mornings” and “North Penn News.” Other award categories included music video, long form/fiction, and talent.
Overall, the experience was both rewarding and enlightening for members of NPTV. Award winner Kristina Stidham commented that “it felt really great to be nominated because the level of talent we saw and being recognized among that talent was a really great feeling.”

NPTV is comprised of students and adult faculty, staff, and administrators who are some of the most dedicated, industrious, and talented people in our district. They are the unsung heroes who bring to us each day the stories and accomplishments of the other people in our district. They work constantly on writing, creating, and editing the hours of footage for many events always with positive attitudes and smiles. We should all recognize and thank NPTV and the individuals behind the cameras and technology for setting a high bar of excellence and professionalism. Congratulations on being honored for your work beyond our district and community and for bringing home the Emmys!
