TOWAMENCIN – North Penn students donned their brightest neon and most brilliant white clothing for SGA’s second annual Knight Glo informal dance on Friday night. With new additions like glow paint and extra black-lights, the dance really kicked off at sundown.
SGA President Pat Zancolli commented about differences this year as compared to the first Knight Glo: “This year we did it a little bit later than last year…we added some new lights because people were saying that they didn’t think there were enough black-lights inside, and we added a paint station, which so far is pretty successful.”
At the paint station, students had the opportunity to be painted with neon paint that would glow in black-lights once it dried. SGA volunteers painted war lines, handprints, and even bowties on students. Each student also got at least two glow-sticks.
Once the sun went down, the students “glowed it up” on the gym dance floor, resplendent in glow-sticks, glow paint, and party lights.
Having been to both Knight Glo dances, senior Ryan Aragona enjoyed this year’s dance even more: “I thought it was a really fun time to be with friends. The music and lights made it such a party atmosphere.”
Knight Glo was not just a fun dance to hang out with friends, but also a benefit event to raise money for United Way’s “Stuff the Bus” and the Wounded Warrior Project. “Stuff the Bus” is a United Way program that works to distribute school supplies, such as backpacks and books, to families and schools in need. The Wounded Warrior Project strives to assist and raise awareness about injured veterans and service members.
Raising about $3000 for these foundations, Knight Glo was a great success and the rising SGA officers hope to continue this event next year.
