NORTH WALES – North Penn Theatre and Thespians held their first ever Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser with a twist – appearances by the iconic characters from the spring show Beauty and the Beast. Little girls arrived in crowns and princess dresses, anxiously awaiting their turn to meet Belle and the othercharacters. Small boys couldn’t wait to show off their roar to the massive Beast.
Other characters at the event included Lumière, Babette, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts. In their largeand elaborate costumes, they walked around the restaurant, taking pictures with children and signing autographs. The characters, along with other cast members, sang “Be Our Guest” to entertain the diners while they ate pancakes and sausage.
Other students involved in the production volunteered by waiting on tables, face painting, and bussingtables. The face painting was a huge hit as kids requested roses on their cheeks, a clock around theirfaces, and a Beast mane on their chins. Students also sold light-up roses in a basket just like Belle’s topromote the show in May.
With a constant influx of customers throughout the morning and efficiency of volunteer servers, the first North Penn Theatre Applebee’s Flapjack Character Breakfast was a great success and garnered a lot of enthusiasm for the upcoming production. All students, parents, and faculty involved are even more excited to put on Beauty and the Beast on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at 7:30 and on May 4th at 2:00.
