TOWAMENCIN – On Thursday March 27th, the North Penn Physical Education Department held its third annual G.A.S. Night led by P.E. and health teacher and coach Mr. Jonathan Fluck.
G.A.S. stands for games, activities, and sports, and this night was created for students to come and try everything that North Penn has to offer. The events ranged from swimming, badminton, rock climbing, volleyball, a dunk competition, and pickle ball. Then the night was finished up with a dodge ball tournament. Additionally, not only do participants have the benefit of having a great night from coming to GAS night, but as a reward to coming to GAS night students received a slip of paper that they can use as a gym makeup.
Seniors and first time G.A.S. night goers Sophia Bergeron and Kelly Sikorski agreed that coming to GAS night was completely worth it.
“It was a super fun time and I got to play with everyone, not just the people in my gym class,” explained Bergeron.
“I didn’t get the chance to take Adventure Ed. this year so I opted instead to come to G.A.S. night and try and climb the wall. Also I love playing sports and hanging out with my friends on a school nights because you don’t often get that opportunity – its super fun,” continued Sikorski.
Fluck was pleased with the success of this year’s G.A.S. night.
“If you look around, you just see all these kids around here, I mean you have kids who have never played these sports or activities who are out here having fun, smiling, and having a great time. Every year we’re surprised with the number of students who turn up here just playing and having fun,” concluded Fluck.
Whether you were on the playing on the courts, swimming in the pool, or climbing the rock wall, the night was a success for all.
