Fashion students were inspired by the revolutionary music of The Beatles in their annual fashion show, focused on the men who changed a nation fifty years ago. The Beatles and the 1960’s served as the student designers’ main inspiration. Patterns and styles were chosen to fulfill the students’ vision and design requirements.
After a short video dedicated to the history of The Beatles, the fashion show began as the students wore their own garments and strutted down the aisles of the auditorium. Striking poses in the pit and onstage, they flaunted all the work that went into creating multiple garments.
“From brainstorming ideas, to selecting a pattern, to choosing fabric, the countless hours of hard work seems effortless when the students model their designs at the show,” commented clothing career study student and co-coordinator of the event Riana Catanzaro.
Following the fashion show, Catanzaro commented on her overall feelings about the show: “I think today went amazing! The hard work and dedication we put into it is all for the students to show off their creativity. They deserve that movement to show their friends, family, and peers something they are proud of. It’s a whirlwind of an experience, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!”
Planning began on the first day of school by the clothing career study students, Catanzaro, Erica Christensen, and Devon Winkworth, and the other students began to construct garments in late November. After all the hard work, the clothing students certainly pulled off an entertaining fashion show that spanned back to the decade of bright colors, bold prints, and great music.
