TOWAMENCIN – On a perfect night for football, North Penn High School alumni crowded into Crawford Stadium once again for the annual homecoming game. Under the lights of the stadium, previous students excitedly met up with old classmates, cheered on the Knights, and watched as a new homecoming king and queen were crowned. Alumni were thrilled to be back visiting the high school, but they had to admit that it was strange.
“Last time we were here, we graduated, so it’s weird to be back here again,” 2013 graduate Emily Milliron mused.
Brad Rosenburger had the same reaction, adding that it was nice to be in the stands cheering the team on instead of on the field taking photos like he did in previous years.
Oddly enough, it wasn’t the game or being back at North Penn that really excited them- it was the fact that you could buy Chick-fil-a. Although they were eager to see who would be this year’s homecoming royalty.
At half time, everyone’s attention was on the homecoming court as they paraded onto the field with their escorts. After introducing each of the court members, the crowd went silent as the runner-ups and winners were announced.
The second runner-ups for homecoming king and queen are Chris Kersey and Kennedy Alexander, and the first runner-ups are Noah Melchior and Victoria Christensen. This year’s homecoming king is Alex Price, and this year’s homecoming queen is Nicole Garritt.
The stadium erupted in cheers for the winners, runner-ups, and court members while they were all surrounded by friends, family, and reporters. As they exited the field, Garritt was so ecstatic she could hardly speak. “It’s unbelievable; it’s so incredible,” was all she could say.
