LANSDALE – The North Penn School District would like to congratulate North Penn High School junior Priya Kikani for receiving third place in the Penn State Essay Contest. More than 150 students from high schools across the state of Pennsylvania participated in this competition by writing an impromptu timed argument essay about the ethics of the government’s ability to regulate social media services. Awards were given to students in recognition of their excellent writing.
The top three winners and the 17 finalists were chosen from nominees identified by their high schools as outstanding student writers. The judges from Penn State University were enthusiastic about the quality of entries and commented on the fine writing and careful thinking that characterized the essays – a testament to the excellent English instruction in Pennsylvania’s high schools.
Kikani recently attended the awards luncheon at Penn State University’s Nittany Inn, where she received a $50 check and certificate. For more information about Kikani’s award and the Penn State Essay Contest, please contact North Penn High School English teacher Janet Kratz at [email protected].
