With the end of March, North Penn’s FCS fashion students have ended their collection of gently-used shoes for donation to Community Recycling. As previously reported, Community Recycling is collecting shoes from North Penn in exchange for money that will be donated to the charity of North Penn’s choosing.
The shoes were worth fifty cents per pound with all proceeds being donated to the Delaware Valley Doberman Pincher Association.
And just how much money did North Penn’s most fashionable students donate?
After collecting a staggering 28 boxes of shoes at 40 pounds each, the overall total came to 1,120 pounds–$560 for donation!
The top shoe contributor in each of Townshend’s three classes was given a reward for their hard work. The top three students selected were Madison Block, Carol Brickell, and Marianna Diaz, with 74, 57, and 37 pairs, respectively.
“I am thrilled with how it went because I knew that my fashion students would go totally crazy with bringing in the shoes. They are sweet and they want to help people. Their love for animals always shines through,” said Townsend of the success of the project.
We all saw the success of their amazing fashion show and with the new success of their shoe fundraiser, who knows what the FCS departments will accomplish next.
Great job, everyone! I know how hard it is to part with that perfect pair of shoes.
