Attention all junior students, the time has come for your annual opportunity to show your writing ability and also have a chance to win $100 at the June awards assembly.
The 21st annual Ben Detwiler Award for Juniors is open for entries. The basis of the award is for juniors to write a 1500 word (maximum) essay expressing your ideas on how you would improve or solve a personal, local, or global issue. A North Penn student, Ben Detwiler was killed in 1991 when he was hit by a drunk driver on Rt. 309. He was a determined individual who felt very strongly about social issues and injustices.
You can find posters around the halls for the award and if you have any questions you can contact Mrs. Craig E16 or Mrs. Kinsey in A108.
Your 1500 word paper must be word processed and submitted by Monday, April 30, 2012 to Mrs. Craig or Mrs. Kinsey.
The winner will receive their name on the plaque in A-Pod, and a hundred dollar cash prize presented at the June awards Assembly.
Submit your entry early and encourage others to enter for a chance to win this prestigious award.
