The Student Government Associations from all four North Penn secondary schools are bringing leadership back with this year’s Pennsylvania Association of Student Council’s Region F Conference.
With a theme of @Region_F #startthetrend, North Penn’s SGA chose to integrate all aspects of social networking to help students from around their region learn the best ways to integrate social media into their student councils.
“Our conference is a one day convention for any school in Region F which includes Districts 11 and 12. Our region is the largest of all regions in the state and we are very excited to hold the conference,” said Dylan Eiger, president of North Penn High School’s SGA.
The conference, which will be held at Penndale Middle School on April 24, 2012, presents a big undertaking for any hosting school–especially this year.
“Typically, the host school is given over one year to plan this event. We were given 87 days. We are diligently working to make sure that the conference is a wonderful experience for the hundreds of students that are attending,” said Eiger.
Eiger predicts that somewhere between 600 and 800 students will attend the conference this April. While at the conference, students are offered the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops run by other students and advisors from around the region, as well as given a lunch provided by Moe’s Southwest Grille in North Wales.
“In addition to workshops, we will be having Derek and Julie Tennant as our guest speakers. They call themselves the Love Chromosome. Julie was born with Down syndrome and Derek is partially paralyzed on his left side. They will be giving a motivational speech on how to achieve your goals and never let anything bring you down,” Eiger added.
With only two months left until the conference, the Knight Crier wishes all the SGA members the best of luck with their planning and looks forward to helping to #startthetrend as a workshop host this April.
