LANSDALE – The North Penn School District is proud to announce that three of its high school students enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program received prizes in the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Americanism Essay Contest. This is an annual Americanism Essay Contest, based on a theme announced each Spring.
Congratulations to Tim Doerr who was voted first place among tenth grade students. His essay will now be forwarded to the Northeast Regional Americanism Committee for consideration for Regional honors. The Regional winners then move on to the National Committee, where substantial scholarship prizes are available.
North Penn High School senior Brandon Koder was awarded second place in his grade and will receive an impressive certificate and a bond or modest cash prize. In addition, NPHS sophomore Andrew O’Brien was the second place winner among tenth grade students and will receive the same awards as Koder.
