In high school, many students wish they could go back to the days of nap time, recess, and juice boxes. In the Youth Education Association club, (YEA) now you can! Anyone can join to help out with many exciting activities for kids. Students can have fun planning different events and learn important skills which can be useful for students in life, and especially for those who aspire to be teachers.
Many events are already in the works.
“[YEA sponsors] different activities throughout the year, including the Halloween party, Holiday Helpers, and babysitting events,” says Magdalena Bartnikowska, President. “We also have some new opportunities for this school year, such as Story Time at the Lansdale Public Library. I am very excited for this year.”
Upcoming events include the Halloween Party on Thursday, October 27, where the senior cafeteria will be full of spooky decorations and sweet treats for the party, which is open to children and their families from the Kiddee Korner as well as the staff’s children. Members are encouraged to bring family and friends to the event.
During the holiday season, members can volunteer to babysit children which give parents time to run errands. Members have the opportunity to sign up to read books to children. This will take place at the library every Saturday at 1pm starting in November until June. Students had fun dressing up in 80s themed clothes last year while participating in the annual Volleyball Tournament. This year’s theme will not dissapoint!
YEA would love to have new members with creative ideas for the club. Meetings are now twice a month, during every first and third Thursday in room K143 from 2:30 to 3:30.
