TOWAMENCIN – CB East proved why they were 8-2 coming into Tuesday night’s game against North Penn, where they bested the Knights 61-49.

Cam Crowley and the Knights’ 12-2 run late in the game wasn’t enough to overcome the 19-point deficit they found themselves in to start the fourth quarter. The loss meant CB East would solely claim the top spot in the Suburban One Colonial division – for now.

Crowley’s varsity experience showed at the start of the fourth quarter, with back-to-back layups and an assist to Mehya Godhania for another 2. Following two steals from Crowley and Godhania respectively, Crowley nailed a tricky layup with a foul and made the free throw to complete the three-point play.

“That’s just four years of experience, Cam [Crowley]’s been in that position a hundred times in her career, and it showed for us and it sucks that she fouled out,” Brianna Cullen, North Penn’s head coach said.

The Knights had closed the Patriot’s lead to 9 at this point, and the crowd was quickly back on its feet when Lily Brown did her best Cam Crowley impression with the same layup wizardry.

Leah Mikulski’s 3-pointer would bring North Penn within 6, but a flurry of free throws through the last minute and a half from CB East successfully shut down the Knight’s comeback.

“[3-pointers were] kind of how the dice rolled today, we’re not the most effective 3-point shooting team, but they fell for us tonight which was good,” Cullen said.

CB East utilized a press throughout almost the entire game, and it proved to prevent the Knights from getting anything going offensively. On the defensive end, North Penn had a hard time stopping East’s duo of sophomore Haley Moran and junior Jess Lockwood, who would combine for 46 of the Patriot’s 61 points.

Both teams play their next game on 1/10, North Penn at home against Neshaminy and CB East at home against Pennsbury.

North Penn (49): Brown 13; Mikulski 13; Godhania 11; Crowely 10; Debro 2.

Central Bucks East (61): Moran 28; Lockwood 18; Ralph 7; Penecale 5; Berndt 3.
