Falcons soar past Knights with big 3rd quarter
TOWAMENCIN – Despite a halftime buzzer-beater and a 9-0 run in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Knights fell just short of a victory losing 66-61.
The Knights (5-4) played a hard-fought game against the Falcons (7-4), but in the end, they couldn’t stop #15 Ty Kocak and the Falcon’s offense.
“They made more shots then we did, and they defend more than we did,” North Penn Head Coach John Conrad stated.
After much back and forth between the two teams, Ryan Deininger put the first points on the board with 6:42 left in the first. North Penn kept the game close and led 20-13 at the end of the first. Deininger led the team with 9 points in the first quarter. Teddy McAllister and Norman Gee brought up the offensive energy in the second quarter. In the final minutes, Pennsbury was up 33-30, but Ryan Deininger banked a midcourt three, tying the game at 33 a piece at the half.
After a back-and-forth first half, Pennsbury dominated the third quarter, and the Knights could not lock down Kocak and Daniel Cohen. Pennsbury led 48-40 at the end of the third. Heading into the final quarter, North Penn kept the game close. The Knights trailed 59-56 with 1:04 left in the game. Despite going on a 9-0 run in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Knights fell just short of a victory losing 66-61.
“They are a good basketball team and made better plays, and we are just going to prepare for our next game,” head Coach John Conrad said
After a hot 3-0 start in the conference, they are now in a four-way tie in the colonial division and are looking to get back in the win column at Neshaminy (7-4) at 7 pm.
